    PROPERTIES: Profenid(ketoprofen BP) is non-steroida! anti-inflammatory drug of the propionic acid group. Profenid’ possesses an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic action. It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins. Prof en id exerts a potent analgesic action through its peripheral and central actions.

    INDICATIONS: Treatment of acute and chronic rheumatic pathologies, articular rheumatism, and traumatism, periarthritis of shoulders, tendinitis, bursitis, tenosynovitis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis, vertebral rheumatism-cervicalgia, dorsalgia, lumbalgia, dental pain and dysmenorrhoea. Profenid” Injection is used in post-operative pain, renal colic, disc related sciatica, and cancerous pain.

    DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATIONS: Profenicd-E enteric coated tablets: 50-100 mg twice daily preferably taken 1-2 hours before or at least 2 hours after meals. Profenid” I.M. Injection 100 mg/2ml: As prescribed by the physician, generally 1 or 2 deep intramuscular injections (100-200 mg) daily. Prof en id Gel 2.5% w/w: Apply topically to the painful areas 2-3 times daily. Profenid CR: 1 Capsule (200 mg) once daily.

    CONTRA-INDICATIONS: With oral and parenteral dosage: Known allergy to ketoprofen, aspirin or other NSAIDs, peptic ulcer, severe renal or hepatic impairment, pregnancy, lactation and in children under 15. Profenid Gel: Exudative dermatoses, sores, infected or broken skin conditions and in children under 5.

    PRECAUTIONS: In common with other NSAIDs care should be taken in patients with a history of gastro-duodenal ulcer, chronic renal impairment, concomitant administration of protein

    bound     drugs.

    SIDE-EFFECTS:     Gastro-duodenal

    discomfort,  gastric  pain,  nausea,  vomiting,  diarrhoea,

    constipation, vertigo. Exceptionally skin rashes with or

    without itching. Very rare gastro-intestinal haemorrhage.

    PRESENTATIONS: Profenid tablets: 50 mg tablets in packs of 50′s in blisters of 10′s. 100 mg tablets in packs of 50′s in blister of 10′s. Profenid® Injection 2 ml (100 mg) injections in packs of 10 ampoules. Profenid Gel: 2.5% w/w gel in tube of 30g. Profenid CR: 200 mg and 100 mg capsules in packs of 50′s in blisters of 10′s.
